ARLINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

TITLE I SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT

 

The Arlington School and the parents of the students participating in activities services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State's high standards.

 

The school-parent compact is in effect during school year 2010-2011.

The Arlington Elementary School will:

1.   Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive, safe and effective learning environment that enables the children to meet the state's student academic achievement standards by using curriculum mapping and alignment of the state standards at each grade level.

2.   Hold parent-teacher conferences at the end of the 1st quarter grading period and the 3rd quarter grading period.

3.   Provide parents with reports on their children's progress at least once each grading period, more often if needed.

4.   Provide parents reasonable access to staff at any time reasonable notice is given by the parent.

5.   Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child's class activities or volunteer or observe with proper notice to the classroom teacher.

Parent responsibilities:

We, as parents, will support our children's learning in the following ways:

1.   Making sure our children attend school unless it is absolutely necessary to be absent.

2.   Making sure that homework is completed.

3.   Monitoring the amount of television and computer time for our children.

4.   Volunteering when needed in my child's classroom.

5.   Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my children's education.

6.   Promoting positive use of my children's extracurricular time.

7.   Staying informed about my children's education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school either received by my child or by mail and responding, as appropriate. And discussing the day's activities with my child.

8.   Attending parent/teacher conferences and other informational meetings.

Student Responsibilities:

  1. Do my homework every day and ask for help when I need it.
  2. Read every day outside of school, asking for assistance if needed.
  3. Give to my parents or the adult who is responsible for my welfare all notices and information received by me from my school every day.
